This kit has absolutely everything you need to complete the project, even if you’ve never picked up a crochet hook before. First there is a booklet titled “Crochet Teaching” which is in color, has very clear (I do mean very clear) photos of everything from how to hold the yarn and hook to how to make the magic ring and all the stitches you will need to complete the project. There is even some practice yarn that you will not need for the project, so you can practice, rip apart and practice again, and get comfortable before beginning. I wish I’d learned this way; it’s so much easier than having to pause a video online when things aren’t making sense. Make sure you try out all the stitches so you get used to how they should look.Next, each piece (there are 4) has its own instruction sheet. One side of the sheet has a refresher on how to do each stitch, as well as clear diagrams. The other side has specific instructions for the piece. There is plenty of yarn – the colors are vibrant! The yarn doesn’t split, which makes it much easier to work with. There are two crochet hooks as well as all the stuffing and plastic eyes. The eyes have backs that screw on to keep them secured, though if you are concerned about chocking hazards you could omit the eyes. Or you could make some eyes with yarn – my practice yarn is blue, which could be used for eyes if you don’t have any black yarn handy. This is a great kit, and since there are 4 separate pieces it’s easy to finish one and have something to show for your work as you go along. They even included a plastic bag for you to keep your current work separate. This kit is a great value – you don’t have to buy all the extra yarn and supplies that you may never need again, and the crochet lessons are great.
