This cat shelf is very sturdy, the brackets could definitely hold a larger shelf if needed and a lot more weight. I picked this one because the shelf itself is solid wood, so no matter how chunky my cats get, it will hold. The shelf is quite small which is great for sitting, but they won’t be able to lay on it so much. The cat in the picture is definitely photoshopped, our floofy cat appears to take up almost the whole shelf when she sits. We put ours under a high window because the cats were jumping on the window sill to look out(we have a bookcase near the window). Nothing is predrilled, so you will need a power drill with drill and screw bits. This is worth it for the price for us because we didn’t have to haul, cut, or buy any wood, and honestly 2 brackets would have been about $6 just by themselves.
