This was what was produced when a set of stairs and a ramp had a baby. It really is more like a ramp that has slight almost sort of stairs.I got this for my 17-year-old cat and she still likes to jump on the couch jump on the tables and jump on the beds and she can do just fine for now in jumping up but I noticed lately when jumping down she seems to hurt her back legs sometimes.At first, she did not like this at all. She was literally purposely walking around it and then jumped on whatever she needed. Same going down. I think it’s because it doesn’t look like stairs. It almost just looks like a mound of something soft. It holds her weight well which is nice because she’s 14 pounds and for cats, they should be fine because they have claws and they can keep their balance on this using their claws but for dogs, I think it really needs to be something with a material that is much more giving for traction. But I got it for my cat.I had to train my cat to use it by putting treats on each step going up and then going down. I put it next to my bed leading right up to my nightstand. I can still open my top drawer, which has my stuff like tissue and lip balm and hand lotion and all that other good stuff and cat treats that I need. And it’s not too terrible to move if I need to get into my other drawers. But again, I mostly use the top drawer anyway, and it clears this.And I did notice that my cat really did start using it more because she loves to climb on the nightstand when it’s bedtime. So I’ve even noticed that she does use this going up although she mostly jumps on the bed to come up. And she has used this to go down off the bed. Which is saving her legs as especially when she wakes up from sleep maybe they aren’t fully awake and when she jumps, she hurts her legs. So this has definitely helped. So much so I’m thinking about getting another one for right next to the couch for the same thing. Jumping up is not a problem for her it’s getting down.Best jet is that it is soft so if I ran my toe into it or my leg because it is right next to my bed, it does not hurt me at all.I still wish the steps were a bit more defined. But it works.
