I ordered this set of 4-step pet stairs for my senior cat who has arthritis, and has had difficulty hopping up and down out of the bed to join us at night. This arrived in a flat, skinny pack, and the directions are super-simple. You just snap it all together. As you’re assembling, of course it’s a bit wiggly until you get the cross-pieces that criss-cross over the back (tallest end), and then all of a sudden, it’s sturdy, doesn’t wiggle or shift, and it’s obvious it won’t scare your pet.The steps are small enough that even a short, stocky, arthritic cat can easily hop up and down without much pain. The cover is stretchy, washable and easily removable, and just pulls down over the steps and has pieces of elastic at the corners that help hold it in place like a mattress pad cover. You just shift the stair cover material and get it to smooth down, and it stays put; doesn’t shift side-to-side, and it’s snug enough that my old cat hasn’t had problems snagging her nails in it, so that’s a plus.It only took one try and my cat immediately figured out what it was for. We helped her walk up and it brought her to within a few inches of the top of the mattress and she hopped right up, and was obviously happy at being able to cuddle up with the family. After 24 hours, she’s using the steps like a pro. I’ve already seen my second cat running up and down with her, so it holds two cats with ease, and that’s close to 30 lbs. It doesn’t budge. It’s “purrfect”.The only odd thing on my particular cover, and I don’t know if it’s by design or just a sewing error – three of the corners had those elastics to keep the cover in place, but one corner didn’t. It stays put even without it, but I kinda suspect it’s a sewing error. It’s not causing my cat any problems, and that’s all that matters to me. [...]
